Cruise News Briefing - May 28, 2021. Even as several cruise lines make plans to sail out of Florida's ports, that state's governor says he will not make an exception to the newly-passed law which forbids any business from requiring proof of vaccination. Oceania Cruises has announced return dates for three more of its ships: Riviera, Insignia, and Sirena. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings shareholders have voted against the company’s plan to pay CEO Frank Del Rio just over $36 million for 2020. Cruise line stocks were up on Thursday for CCL, NCLH, and RCL.

Cruise News Briefing - May 27, 2021. Royal Caribbean International is gearing up for its first simulated “test” cruise from Miami, and is now taking volunteers. Celebrity Cruises announced new details on its wellness program aboard Celebrity Beyond, which includes F45 classes, an extensive spa thermal suite, and in-cabin wellness programming. Carnival Cruise Line is also gearing up for test cruises, but says that it is not taking volunteers at this point in time.

Cruise News Briefing - May 26, 2021 - AM UPDATE. Norwegian Cruise Line has announced the restart dates and regions for eight more of its cruise ships. Carnival Cruise Line has revealed details on the health and safety protocols that will be in place aboard Carnival Miracle for her cruises to Alaska this summer. Puerto Rico has announced that it will no longer require fully-vaccinated American travelers to provide a negative COVID-19 test to visit. Cruise line stocks for CCL, RCL, and NCLH.

Cruise News Briefing - May 26, 2021. The Centers for Disease Control has given Royal Caribbean permission to begin operating test cruises from Miami in late June. Holland America Line has extended Eurodam’s summer season in the Mediterranean, with the ship taking over sailings previously scheduled for Westerdam. MSC Virtuosa has successfully completed the first cruise from the UK in over 14 months, and is now on her second of four inaugural voyages. Cruise stocks were up for CCL, NCLH, and RCL.

Norwegian Cruise Line announced details on its plan to sail from Seattle to Alaska this August. Royal Caribbean Group's president Richard Fain gave his monthly video update on Monday. With newly relaxed international restrictions, Viking plans to restart its European river cruises as early as July. Cruise stocks were up for CCL, NCLH, and RCL.

Royal Caribbean submitted restart paperwork to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control on Friday afternoon. We are now seeing what the older Carnival Cruise Line ships will look like with the new paint jobs. Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas entered dry dock last week in Cadiz, Spain. Cruise Line stocks were down for CCL, RCL, and NCLH.

MSC Virtuoso set sail on the first cruise from the UK in nearly 14-months. Royal Caribbean canceled the 2021 Bermuda season aboard Vision of the Seas citing optimism between the cruise line and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. Norwegian Cruise Line is hoping to salvage part of the Alaska 2021 cruise season, by booking staterooms for later this year on Norwegian Bliss. Cruise line stocks for CCL, NCLH, and RCL.

Disney details Toy Story water park. MSC Cruises has announced new Baltic Sea sailings from Germany aboard MSC Seaview, which will see the ship calling on ports in Sweden and Estonia this summer. Cruise News Briefing - May 19, 2021. The lawsuit between the state of Florida and the CDC has been ordered into mediation, in the hopes that the involved parties can sort out the issue and come to an agreement. Royal Caribbean’s ship Enchantment of the Seas docked in Nassau, Bahamas for provisioning on Tuesday. Viking has officially welcomed its newest ocean cruise ship, Viking Venus, with a naming ceremony and christening. Cruise stocks were up on Tuesday for CCL, NCLH, and RCL.

Cruise News Briefing - May 18, 2021. In an exclusive interview with NBC Nightly News’ Lester Holt, Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy says that the line is in discussions with the CDC again, and is still planning for a July restart. Norwegian Cruise Line’s upcoming ship Norwegian Prima opened for bookings last week, and set a cruise line record for bookings on its first day and week of sales.  U.S.-based river cruise line American Queen Steamboat Company is seeking to hire over 200 officers and crew members.

Cruise News Briefing - May 17, 2021. Carnival Cruise Line named the godmother of the upcoming Carnival Mardi Gras, which is scheduled to debut from Port Canaveral this summer. Royal Caribbean pulled Odyssey of the Seas out of Israel this spring because of political unrest, the vessel will now spend its inaugural season sailing from Florida. The United States Senate has passed a bill that could potentially salvage part of Alaska’s 2021 cruising season. Cruise line stocks for CCL, NCL, and RCL.

Cruise News Briefing - May 14, 2021. Florida’s lawsuit against the CDC over its Conditional Sailing Order was presented to a judge this week at a federal court in Tampa. He will decide whether to issue an injunction that would lift CDC restrictions on cruise ships sailing from Florida. MSC Cruises’ flagship MSC Virtuosa arrived in Southampton this week, in preparation for its sailings around the UK beginning on May 20. The governor of Maryland has announced that the cruise terminal in Baltimore will be reopening soon. Cruise line stocks were up on Thursday for CCL, NCLH, and RCL.

Cruise News Briefing - May 13, 2021. The CDC has updated its guidelines for cruise ships, including not wearing a mask when outside if vaccinated. Also, vaccinated guests can take independent shore excursions. Royal Caribbean announced that no masks will be required on its private island of Perfect Day at CocoCay. Norwegian Cruise Line detailed its brand new cruise ship on Wednesday that’ll debut in 2022. Two Carnival Cruise Line ships — Carnival Sensation and Carnival Liberty — are vaccinating crew in Mobile, Alabama and Port Canaveral, Florida. Cruise line stocks are down for CCL, RCL, and NCLH.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control issued new guidance for cruise lines to restart service. Carnival Cruise Line announced that every cruise ship in its fleet will receive a blue hull like the upcoming Mardi Gras. Holland America Line said on Wednesday that they will begin sailing this summer from Greece with the Eurodam. Princess Cruises is making new changes to its dining program once they resume sailing again. Norwegian Cruise Line has also announced that it has donated $10 million cash to six Alaskan port communities who are struggling since the cruise shutdown.
